Concrete may be a familiar building material, but a handcrafted concrete countertop is something entirely different.

Its beauty comes from what skilled hands can do with it: shaping the edges, developing the color, refining the surface, and creating a finish that feels right for the space. The result can be warm and earthy, clean and contemporary, or full of subtle movement.

At Maison Vue, our concrete countertop projects show just how versatile this material can be—from a warm brown bar top at Toucan’s to lighter outdoor kitchen surfaces and a classic gray poolside bar.

These are functional surfaces, but they are also custom pieces of craftsmanship.

A Sense of Permanence. A Surface With Character.

There is something grounding about concrete. Its weight, texture, and substantial presence make a space feel established—as though it was always meant to be there. It brings to mind the understated luxury of a European terrace or a beautifully designed coastal resort, where natural materials and thoughtful craftsmanship create a lasting sense of place.

Handcrafted concrete has a richness that comes from subtle variation: movement in the color, the touch of the maker, and the way light travels across the surface. These details give it depth and individuality.

Over time, concrete can develop a patina that adds to its character. With proper care and maintenance of its protective finish, the surface can take on a softened, lived-in beauty. It feels almost like a living material, gradually telling the story of the place and the people who use it.

For those who appreciate materials that age with character, that evolution is part of the luxury.

Why Concrete Countertops Are Not Necessarily a Budget Option

It is understandable to assume that concrete countertops should be inexpensive. Most of us associate concrete with foundations, sidewalks, and other practical construction work.

But the price of a finished countertop reflects much more than the raw material.

Custom concrete countertops require careful planning, forming, reinforcement appropriate to the design, controlled placement and curing, surface finishing, and sealing. Color and decorative treatments add another layer of skill.

The edges, dimensions, openings, supports, and installation conditions all influence the work involved.

The material is only the beginning. The value is in the craftsmanship that transforms it.

That is why professionally made concrete countertops can sit in the same price category as quartz and granite. They are a custom finish with a substantial amount of hands-on labor.

What Do Custom Concrete Countertops Cost?

At Maison Vue, $90 per square foot is a useful starting point for budgeting a custom concrete countertop, with final pricing based on the project’s dimensions, color, finish, edge details, and installation requirements. Decorative edge treatments and other custom features may be priced separately.

For perspective, a 40-square-foot countertop at that base rate would be approximately $3,600, before additional features or project-specific work.

That puts handcrafted concrete within the same general investment range as many professionally installed granite and quartz countertops. The difference is in how the finished surface is created: concrete is formed, colored, and finished specifically for the project.

While the raw material may be familiar, the finished countertop reflects hours of skilled work. You are investing in the craftsmanship, the custom details, and a surface with its own individual character.

Think of it as functional art—a handcrafted piece designed to be used and enjoyed every day.

Concrete Countertop Colors: More Than Gray

One of concrete’s most appealing qualities is the range of looks it can achieve.

Our projects include three distinctly different color directions:

Warm Brown at Toucan’s in Mexico Beach

The brown countertop at Toucan’s adds warmth and works beautifully with green tile and wood accents. It shows how comfortably concrete can fit into a relaxed coastal setting.

This project features a lighter finish with cream, sandy beige, and soft tonal movement. The countertop complements the surrounding masonry and landscape, creating a warm, natural look.

Classic Gray for a Poolside Bar

Our poolside project takes a different direction, pairing a gray concrete countertop with white masonry and colorful seating. The restrained countertop color lets the surrounding pool area and furnishings bring their own personality.

A Custom Surface for Your Space

Concrete offers an opportunity to make a countertop part of the design story.

At Toucan’s, that meant a warm brown finish that complements the bar’s green tile and wood details. In our other projects, lighter cream tones and classic gray created entirely different looks.

The common thread is craftsmanship: thoughtful decisions and skilled work that turn a familiar material into something personal.
